Fundraising Dinner for Children With Cancer Fund

Peter has a bad habit of getting drunk at networking do’s and then volunteering for various things which can get him into trouble especially with the wife, Lisa 😊

However, at a Fizz on Foot wine tasting event after a little too much wine ended up suggesting organising a fund-raising dinner for the charity Children With Cancer Fund (CWCF). Chris the Founder, who is an amazing chap, was not confident this could be done and would be attended so Peter seeing this as a personal challenge and after a few more glasses started to work on a plan. Once he had spoken to Ben at La Locanda Del Luca a venue was booked and a date set.

A dinner raised over £9,000 on the night and added to other monies raised meant a total of over £12,000 which the Children With Cancer Fund can use not only for the children suffering with cancer but their families. Their aim is to grant wishes to children up to the age of eighteen, and their families, who have, or have had, cancer and who primarily live in East Sussex, Brighton, and Hove. Wishes can be practical, medical, or fun and made to individual families as well as supporting a group together by giving them quality family time. They also support local hospitals and community nurses who assist in the care of the children under their remit.

La Locanda Del Luca hosted over 110 local businesspeople and supporters enjoying a fantastic three course meal whilst raising funds for this most worthy of local charities. The evening was a great success and a credit to all who were involved. Our thanks go out to the sponsors Ginger & Sanders, Mango Insurance and The Quality Care Group plus all those who kindly donated prizes and of course everyone who attended and made donations. Chris Downton, the founder of the charity, was delighted with the amount raised and said this would really help them provide assistance to those who sincerely need it.

The dinner being such a success it is hoped that this may now become an annual event
